BKTEF receives Civic Education Award
Baacha Khan Trust Educational Foundation receives Civic Education Award from Centre for Civic Education on the international day of democracy in the National Conference on State of Fundamental Rights in Pakistan on Saturday September 15 2012. This award is recognition for the contribution made by the BKTEF in providing and promoting civic education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA.
Centre for Civic Education (CCE), Islamabad is a nonprofit organization with the mission to cultivate civic culture by promoting values of responsible citizenship and principles of democracy. Each year, the CCE presents awards to the organization who has contributed in promoting civic education in the society. This year, the BKTEF was honored for its remarkable contribution and work in this field. The award was presented by well known Human Rights Activist, Mr. I.A Rehman and received by Dr. Ijaz Khan Khattak, BOD member of the Board of Directors BKTEF, Managing Director BKTEF Dr. Khadim Hussain and core team members of the BKTEF.
Baacha Khan Trust Educational Foundation is working for and on democracy, pluralism and indigenous wisdom which is the philosophy of the great Baacha Khan. Since its establishment, the BKTEF is working in one way or the other to empower the people by educating them about their true rights and strengthening them to use their voices. It is the mission of the BKTEF to ensure individual liberty and to empower the underprivileged masses. It is also providing platforms to all the generations of the society, irrespective of their gender, cast or religion to contribute in the uplift of their socio economic conditions. The BKTEF is running 14 schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA with a total strength of 3000 students and 300 teachers where free quality education is provided to the underprivileged masses of the society. It has also been able to educate about 1000 youth in 23 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the themes of democracy, good governance and rule of law.
The BKTEF thanks Centre for Civic Education for the recognition of its efforts and receives the award as a motivation and inspiration for realizing its dream of a pluralistic democratic society.
