Baacha Khan Trust Educational Foundation

Baacha Khan Trust Educational Foundation (BKTEF) organizes a seminar on Culture, Militancy and Rehabilitation here in Bahrain (Swat) on July 13, 2011. The seminar was a part of three days festival  names’  Simam’ arranged by   Idara barai Taleem –o- Taraqi ( IBT) in collaboration with BKTEF, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Corporation and Civil Society Organizations of Swat.

Keeping in view militarization and post militancy operation in Swat which has badly destroyed the tourism industry and indigenous diverse culture of Swat, the festival and the  follow up  seminar helped revamping the militancy affected area towards better economic prospects. Speeches were delivered on the importance of recognizing diverse cultures and its role in strengthening society to combat any foreign imposed ideologies and retrogressive forces that could endanger the peace and progress of a nation. The speakers highlighted that faith in human dignity, adopting pluralistic discourse and building modern knowledge on the foundations of indigenous wisdom could only ensure peace, economic growth and prosperity. The speakers also urged upon the government of Pakistan, government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, NGOs and Civil Societies to take the rehabilitation and promotion of tourism in Swat as their utmost responsibility so as to regain its lost space in World Tourism . Dr. Khadim Hussain Managing Director (BKTEF) put forwarded four models of Swat i.e. historically evolved ethno cultural civility and refinement in Swat, imported sectarianism, militancy operation and rehabilitation in his speech. The four discussion points were well taken and were further elaborated by the participant speakers of the seminar. . Members representing Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assured that the rehabilitation process in Swat will be speeded up and all possible measures for the process will be considered.
